It goes into the stock snorkel, when it was there.
What it's for I'm not sure. Lemme dig up the FSM and take a look.

If its was either sensor youd have a CEL.

Does the check engine light even work on this vehicle?

That looks like the IAT sensor connector which is mounted on the air duct.

The MAP sensor has black wires.

Definitely try to read your codes, that could narrow it down significantly. Also, it looks like this connector branches off from the main engine harness that runs across the top of the engine and the wires to it are red/yellow and orange/blue. Is this correct? Could you take a picture of where it branches off? One up close for detail and one farther away for context?

The closet I can find is the EGRC solenoid (F24). Though has a red/yellow wire and a blue/black one according to the 95 EC section. I cannot find any connections to the ECU use a orange/blue wire.

On a '95, the IAT is mounted in the side of the top half of the air box, not the ducting like other years.

It may also be possible that connector is for some EVAP related equipment that a 95 California model has but a normal 95 USDM model doesn't have. Which means that a 95 FED spec ECU would throw no code. That is assuming they use the same harness.

Did someone replace the knock sensor harness and leave the old one in place?

That appears to be the connector for the map/baro solenoid.

From what I can tell, the MAP/BARO solenoid didn't come about until 96 where it uses a orange/yellow wire.

Cali spec 95's have a map/baro solenoid. You can tell his car is a cali spec based on the one pic showing an evap canister purge control valve

I can't seem to find any mention of the MAP/BARO solenoid in the 1995 FSM. There is no connection to pin 16 (MAP/BARO pin of other years) of the ECM according to the "ECM Terminals and Reference Values" section, and it is not in the "Circuit Diagram" either.

Then again, the FSM has been known to contain errors. It seems like the production line and the FSM are not always in sync. For instance, I took an engine from a '99 and it uses letters to denote the grade of the crankshaft and main journals. According to the FSM, this practice did not start until '00.

I went out to my car to see. it's a 98 non cali spec. I looked for connections in that area with a red/yellow/grey stripe. I found two.

I circled the two connections I found. the blue arrow denotes front of car.

If that harness has a brown connector, then its the MAP/BARO solenoid harness.
