i have a question about injectors

First off im not looking for sarcasm. Im simply looking for some advice.

My car is a 95 se

I have a cyl misfire on cyl 5. Ive checked the coil aswell as changed the plugs with ngks.

I dont have a ohm meter, but i tried the tip where you put a screw driver on the injector to listen for the tick.

All of my injectors are ticking with the exception of the cyl 5 injector which is ticking about 2-3 times more than the others.

Only thing i can find after searching is that the injector is bad if its not ticking.

Since it is ticking that means that its getting juice

My question is…can my injector still be bad since its ticking alot more than the others?

Im planning on tearing it apart to try and find my problem. Seems that the injector is the only thing left to check.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried swapping coils between cyl 5 and the adjacent cylinder? This will indeed prove that the coil/spark plug is not part of the problem.

Also, since you think the injector #5 is the problem, have you pulled the spark plugs to compare between each other?

it might be over cycling and then yes it would still be ticking....id start by swapping coils because its a free test if cyl 5 still missfires then go and grab a multimeter at ur local parts store (~$10) and checking the injector.....if its within range good! if not change.

since u swapped coils i assume u inspected the plug on that cyl? and that ur coil was getting power at the harness?

Ya plugs is good i didnt notice anything wrong with it. And its getting spark.

When i put the plugs and the new coil on i started it still had my problem. Thats when i checked the old coil on cyl 3 it was good.

Even swapped the plugs around.

Everything remained on cyl 5. I havent driven the car. Since then.

Im not getting any cels at first i was getting a p0305, and a p0325 which are cyl 5 misfire and knock sensor. But after i cleared the code ill start it once in a while let it run and cant get a code at all.

So thats why i saud im down to the injector is the only thing i havent checked beside putting a screw driver on it to listen

Since you swapped coils and ruled that out, it seems that you have isolated the problem to the injector. The only thing I don't understand is how a fuel injector could be "clicking" more than the others. The click is when the electro-magnet energizes and opens the valve inside the injector. So this would imply that the injector is getting too many electrical signals. Maybe my brain has gone off on a drug induced vacation.

You could try swapping the injector. The only possible problem is that you could damage the o-rings for the injector, so be careful.

I purchased a new injector the other day so im hoping that fixes it.

Like you i dont understand the over clicking. Since everything i found in searches told me that click is good no click is bad.

I figure maybe its dumping to much fuel. Idk.

If it fixes it im happy. If not then it will be the next car on craigslist i guess. Im just running out of money to keep dumping in it.

i dont think it would be dumping too much fuel you would prolly have noticed that on the spark plug ... i think the injector is clogged and over working because its not getting fuel to that cly. replacing the injector should fix this after reading this seems u elimnated alot of the other possibilites

Ya all plugs look the same. I just have to go by what little bit of time i have to check things out.

I tend to try one thing this day and another thing the next time i have a minute.

I havent been driving it i wasnt sure if it would mess anything up. So im working nights until i get it fixed. So i can wait on my wife to get off to give me my jeep. And with 2 babys i never have time to look at it during the day.

So i guess ill just continue to try one step at a time.

I know this part after part deal has put a dent in my "do alil bit of modding" plans. Lol

If all plugs look the same, I doubt it your injector is at fault.

If your injector dumped too much fuel, your plug would be fouled.

they plug would not be fouled if it was getting no gas at all ... although you would notice it running very choppy...

and i can understand the time restraints good luck man !

Thats what i figured i pulled the plugs on the misfirig cyl and another cyl last night the misfire cyl doesnt have very much of a fuel smell and the other does. So im guessing the injector is clogged

Have u confirmed that the injector is spraying?

Might need to do a compression test on the cylinder
