time for wheel paint.... the M/FX35 18s

well as most of you have seen in my other thread... http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ious-love.html, i got a set of nice M/FX35 18s, well, i was parked at the harware store and some @sshole dropped paint and got all over my front passenger rim, so i sprayed them black. Since then i had a rear blowout and i had to put my snows on untill i get a tire, so while they are off, i decided it time for nice paint, i love black rims, but im fixing this ride up for my girl who LOVES lime green so i wanted to incorperate lime green into the wheels, so with Chrismans help he shopped up a few renditions, basically they are the same but one has the chrome infinity emblem and the other is black, let me know what you all think, and as i make progress ill be updating with pics

Special thanks to Chrisman287, and my awesome girlfriend

Here are what im thinking...
black emblem

Chrome emblem

I like the lime green and black accents better although that seems to be a pretty difficult task...

A cardboard template would be easier than just masking off with tape so at least the area would be the exact same size.

very true, but where the green is going it is very pronounced and has edges to guide me, so first i need to gather up the materials, and then sand and prime them

To be completely honest with you man, I don't think it will flow well at all with your car. If it was a little more modded, and had more lime accent...maybe. I understand people have different tastes, it just won't look right if the wheels are going on the car in your sig. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't read the thread you linked.

True, but there is just some things that should be done in a certain order.
Going with a such a dramatic wheel color on a car that really needs attention applied to other areas is just going to look like complete sh#t.
That bright lime green color might work, and actually look good but only on a car thats ready for such a look.

Same with any project, you can go at it many ways, other things will suffer in the process. It really depends on what you personally think is the right order, meaning, you're comfortable with all of the bashing you may incur because of doing things a certain me (EG. Me doing the VQ35 last, I've spent more than 2x the money on other mods for the car performance wise, and still have not even been able to come close to a VQ35 in performance, but it's the route I chose, and I'm sticking to it, I'm happy to say I have finally made it to that destination where I am ready to begin the VQ35 process, the wheels for him are like me doing my Exhaust first back in the fall).

I'm holding my tongue till the final result, I'm personally not a fan of those "exotic" colors on plain cars, but we'll see in due time.... Who knows he could pull it off?

I just wish the best of luck to you MaxJammin!

Not really a good comparison, cause even with that exhaust it gave you gains, there was still a positive outcome to doing it perfomance wise. Not as benificial as with a 3.5 or FI but some still.

This is a cosmetic mod, so to paint the wheels such an extreme color that just screams " hey, look at me!" which would ok if the whole car is done up as well. But when the car is looking as if its seen better days it just makes one think "WTF"
Its like guys who spend 3-4K on wheels and put them on a 500.00 car, just doesnt make sense.
Back when body kits were in it was far too commmon to see them slapped on vehilces, unpainted which is another thing I could never understand. Why put it on, if you dont intend to paint it.
In the end, it his his car to do with as he pleases. Just seems likes there are so many other things he could focus on before painting his wheels bright green.

this. anyone who has half a brain would not put lime green wheels on a half black half gold max. i agree, it woukd look good once the rest of the car is done, but do yourself, your gf, and all of us a favor, and wait to do the wheels, at least until the car is all one color...some people make me laugh

If it hasnt been said already im gonna say it:

This will look like ****. Don't do it.

the only way that can possible look good is on an all black maxima(pristine paint, not just well taken care of), that is pretty much slammed into the ground. Because that begs for attention otherwise, it will look like one of those "latinos" got there hand on some spray paint and went crazy.

What wrong with "LATINOS" and spray paint everyone doesn't have a compressor to paint and everyone doesn't have money to pay someone to paint them.

So many ways to attack this problem of doing lime green rims first, lets just leave it at we're both right.

well, if all goes as planned, the car goes in for paint tuesday morning, and ill be without a ride for a few days and ill be doing the rims, as for the feedback, positive or negative, its all taken into consideration, but as far as the car goes, after paint and wheels itll be on the back burner. I got a miata im trying to get on the road, and trying to get my bike registered, ill post pics when i get it all home and together

well i'm not really a fan of the layout of the lime paint and imo using a chrome emblem would make it way worse. please use a black emblem if you go through with this @_@

It actually looks pretty good from this angle. Can you snap some closer pics? Heck if you can pull it off with the rest of your whip paintwise, I say go for it.
