RIP Sweet Maxine

Last night, on my way home. I hit a black bear at about 45mph. fml

http://s1227.photobucket.com/albums/...854/?start=all

Alright, me and my 3 friends goin home at like 11pm.
Black bear came SPRINTING out of someones driveway in a 45zone and ran staight into my car's fender. I locked the brakes up with the 13" rotors for impact, and the skid marks I may go take a picture of tomorrow. The car isnt tooo messed up.

HUGE dented fender
R34 Housing destoyed
Grill edge shattered
Front bumper tweaked
Other fender tweaked
Hood bent in

Other than that its OK. Still runs and drives, bear hair got everywhere, INCLUDEING between the tire and rim..... Im mostly happy nobody got hurt. (except the bear that wasnt seen when we turned around to see if it was there)(I learned that my car will give its life for me)

My car only has PL + PD and no comp, so im screwed.

just trying to inject a lil humor to lighten this story...

Ehh that's nothing. I doubt the core support is even tweaked. Bumper cover, fender, hood and headlights. Start shopping at your local junkyards, you should be able to get parts in your color pretty easily.

There is one junkyard within 3 hours. That's what I get for living in the sticks of Cali. Bears and unavailable car parts.

As I'm typing this my dogs are going crazy outside. I injured an adult bear under half a mile from my house, and they commonly come into my trash can. I'm kinda worried for my dogs cuz if this bear wants round two with me, I'm ready to sq. Up.

That damage is nothing, it could have been worse. Easy fix, so easy you can fix it yourself.

Honestly all I would have to do is fix the blinker and replace the r34s back too stock. I haven't checked on the radiator or really anything. It looks worse in person, the other side is messed up from the grill and bumper moving. I drove it home and it drove straight.

LOL... theres no reason to say "RIP"... this is merely a flesh wound says your maxine.

my s14 got hit on the same side by a car. much heavier than a bear, with twice the damage, and it drives today without even a salvage title. only damage to the fender and lights. hood/ fender/ bumper/ frame is perfect. trig-measure your body and see for yourself. thats why fenders were made. a good inch and a half + of air space for such impact to never touch your frame.

If I do fix it, Im going to
Fiberglass fenders
Fiberglass bumper
R34s maybe projectors
Carbon fiber hood
cool grill

do what you want, but from experience, i'd warn against frp/fiberglass fenders. you get hit by anything at 5mph they're toast... if you have to park off road and your bumper dips and bends, the bend travels to your fenders and they tear in half in a nanosecond. if the fat lady at the grocery store scoots by your car, her *** WILL crack them. or her purse... or the old hag who always swings their doors open and hits your car will do the same... goes for kids on bikes, etc etc.

metal can be buffed over and over and still look immaculate.

if your friends decide to lean on your car while cruising around... there goes your fender...

also in real accidents, say the bear hits you twice, your car is now salvage because the frame will surely be bent. the metal fenders/body parts also have a clean oem fit that plastic will never have.

i had just pained my s14 with vented frp fenders and all of the above (except an accident) happened and before i decided to just re-replace them with OEM goodness, they had zipties holding them together in a Frankenstein-like style.
