'trans leaking where it bolts to the block' sounds like rear main oil seal...as far as everything else...what cashoit said. we need clarification.

Im gonna go out on a limb here and give you my initial thought. Your input shaft seal might be leaking gear oil, contaminating the clutch lining. What you are fee3ling is clutch chatter. Im assuming you are 5MT (5 speed manual trans).

Please post more info if you can so we can help you diagnose this.

You have excessive clutch chatter caused by oil which is leaking onto the clutch.
It's time is now limited, failure will soon follow.

You need to remove the transmission and see where the leak is coming from.
It could be gear oil from the transmission or motor oil from your engine.

yes sry guys ill make this clearer

its a 96 5 speed
newer clutch

couple weeks ago i went through a deep puddle and it hydroplaned a lil so the wheels spun...
then when they hooked up again i herd a big clunk...drove fine till 2 days ago
then i noticed at a stoplight i put it in first and i let the clutch out like usual...and it started to hop a little bit, like u guys said..like a chatter or the clutch got bent...so i was thinking throw out bearing got stuck in the pressure plate or something

then yesterday i noticed it started leaking gear oil between the trans and the block
and now when i let the clutch out it hops and whines for a second then grabs and goes
but immediately a huge smell of gear oil...

I'll make this clearer:

FYI.

Oil + Clutch =

You'll know when it happens when your car is slipping in 3rd.

I don't know why my springs are loose, but that would be the cause of my ridiculous chatter I was getting.

Took about 2-3 months after tranny went BOOM for the clutch to end up like this, so i'd say you have oh about 3-4k miles....

Did you change the rear main seal, when you did the clutch? It's already being said, but get ready to pull the tranny and change the clutch all over again

you know i hate to say but whatever your problem is requires the trans to come out.

personally i think you have more than 1 problem i think the little swim you decided to take caused your flywheel to warp causing chatter i also think the water washed all the dirt and grime keeping your fluid in the trans resulting in a leak

dont dunk your cars in water kids try to avoid it if at all possible

but i do understand sometimes it inevitable
