i looked at the vacuum diagram and am using a repair manual. long story short, they are getting me confused. idk if it is because im frustrated or because i have not been getting much sleep. but can someone please just give me atleast one over head picture of the two neighboring solenoids. MAP/BARO switch sensor solenoid and EGR vacuum switch solenoid.
I was going to post some pics of my 97 and then I saw your statement about 'not from an auto trans', which is what my car is. I know that there are differences between Calif and Federal cars, this auto and manual thing is a new twist to me. I was looking through the fsm and couldn't find any reference to transmission type. I could just be blind.

i would never expect it. i looked under the hood of over 10 different maximas. all auto except mine and they had an extra sensor. i cannot read vins yet so all i could do is assume the cars are cali and not federal. thank you anyways
Cali cars have a Swirl Control valve solenoid valve mounted alongside the MAP/BARO.
The vin does not have any code to indicate whether the car has federal or calif emissions. To determinie that, you have to look under the hood. There is an aluminum plate attached to the firewall on the passenger side. On the plate is the vin number and below that is an ID #.
The 12th character is the emissions, U for USA Federal, V for USA Calif and N for Canada.
The 6th character is the model, V for SE, G for GLE in the USA, and E for GXE in USA, GXE & GLE in Canada
The 7th character is the transmission type, F for manual and A for auto.
