Bose deck removal

i'm following the removal instructions for the i30 and i'm stuck.

i unscrewed the 2 bottom left screws near the gear lever and took out the a/c vents + unscrewed both top screws so now the entire console can rock back and forth, the deck and climate control.

i can't remove the push-lid ashtray even with the left screw out and theres no way to get to the right screw between that small crack of space. it moves loosely but wont come out. i need to get to that last screw and idk what comes next..

thanks. sorry for the newb question, i almost never have trouble with this kinda thing but then again im usually ok with breaking previous cars.

There is no screw on the right side of the ashtray. The ashtray has 2 snap catches on the right side (top & bottom corners). You have to pull or pry the ashtray straight back towards the rear of the car. It's hard to find a spot to hold on to in order to pull, but it's easy to break (especially at the bottom) if you pry. Sounds like a no win, doesn't it?

tried that. but no clue what motion to do after.

^^ also wondered if it had to be "slid" to the left.. no dice.

when i go back outside i'm gambling on pulling it straight out.

BTW shark, that max in ur sig is partly what got me into maximas. simple and clean. yet threatening.

You just have to yank the ashtray out now that you took out the screw holding it in. There's no two ways about it. Then pray that the 2 clips don't pop off and go into the dark abyss.

Then you can get to the final hidden screw behind the ashtray. Good luck.

Pull straight out, towards the back of the car. If you pull to the left, you can break the clip.

You have to pull harder than you think, but if you've got the left screw out there shouldn't be anything more to remove

mine slides easily out in a leftward/forward pulling motion.

Like everyone else said.

-Slide to the left
-Pull towards you, good luck not snapping the clips.

I've broken mine, but it doesn't vibrate or anything after you screw it back down.
