Clicking noise from the HVAC blower motor?
Hi everyone,
I have a 96 Maxima, and I just noticed a new noise from the HVAC bloer motor. It just started about two days ago. It is eminating from the glove box area, which is where the blower motor is (I Think). The clicking sound is not very loud, but you do notice it while driving. The sound seems to get a bit louder when the blower motor is on a higher speed. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? Has anyone ever dealt with this issue?
Thanks,
Zack

Not so simple to remove....There are about 5 bolts holding it in. I also have the "sound boot" over mine that was put in at some point as a result of a Nissan TSB. What a huge PIA to get this blower motor out!! When I did get it out I didn't find any leaves, but it is without question the blower motor making the noise. I removed the hamster wheel t o see if anything was loged under it, and I didn't find a thing. What I did notice however was that there was a huge amount of metal dust on the inside of the hamster wheel......Is that a sign that the motor is on the way out? The noise just started about 2 days ago.
In the original TSB that I read here on the forum, it states the "sound boot" will help get rid of a clicking sound?
Thanks,
Zack

Has anyone purchased an aftermarket blower motor? It seems that the OEM Nissan part is about $120.00. On Rockauto I can get one for about $60.00. The issue is that it looks like the aftermarlet part only has 3 bolt holes, and my blower has at least 5 or 6 bolts. The aftermarket part also does not have the hamster wheel.
Is the "new" noise and the metal dust a sign that my blower motor is on it's way out?
Thanks,
Zack
