98 Maxima SE (auto) vs Lexus is300 (stick)

This year me and my friend are getting are cars he is getting a 2002 Lexus IS300 and I am getting Maxima either a 98 or 99 i am not sure. But he keeps saying how he is going to race me and beat me the Lexus has 215 hp and 218 lbs. torque. I just wanted to know if I could beat him.

He will have the equvilent of a 4th gen Max 5spd manual. If he knows how to shift, he will beat you without a big sweat.

What about if I have a 5spd SE would he still beat me. Another question i have is Would he beat me by far

5spd Manual.. he will beat you if he knows how to shift.. however... with Manual's its up to driver..

well he might beat the AUTO by 3 or more cars

If you were 5spd, and since it would be a street race, it would be ANYONE's game. The IS300 might be a tick faster on the paper, but the cars will be so close it will be up to who is the better shifter.

BTW if you want the fastest 4th gen get a '95.

Just remember that you will fit 5 people comfortably in your max (maybe 3 more in your trunk ), which he can't. And if you're both autos you will most likely win.
