vibration/shaking problem

so here's the problem. on the freeway, at speeds of 40 mph+ there's an occasional shaking felt throughout the car. it sort of feels like i'm changing lanes, but the vibrating lasts much longer than a lane change; at least 5 seconds at a time. the steering wheel shakes to, and i'd assume that if i let go the car would do its own thing. there's also a bumping or clanking sound that comes with the vibrating and i'm pretty sure it's from the front suspension.

when most people say they have this vibrating problem, it's usually at much higher speeds and without the sound i'm hearing. the common fix seems to be somewhere along the lines of a tire rotation/balance so i decided to try it despite the differences. unfortunately that didn't affect my car at all

i'm looking to diagnose this problem but i've done everything i could with my limited knowledge and i can't find the source. for what it's worth, the control arm bushings are deteriorating on both sides but they're not completely gone. i'm looking to change these in the future, but this is their current condition. please please please help me if you have any knowledge on this. when i first got the car i was optimistic, but now the lack of security is starting to get to me

have your tires balanced and get it aligned, the alignment shop will be able to tell you if you have any worn parts

does your car make any popping or rubbing noises when turning? if so check your axles and or wheel bearing. i just changed everything this weekend, and its smooth as hell now.

Out of round tire. Rotating wont fix it but you should be able to tell what corner is shaking.

not going in for an alignment just yet because it will probably be redundant x.x by the next week i'd need another one from screwing around with the suspension

axles appear fine. car is sitting at 110k right now, not sure on the age of the axles though

it doesn't fit the regular symptoms of an out of round tire; i'm 95% sure it's something worn or loose with the front suspension

fortunately my dad decided to call a reliable friend of his, and he's gonna take a loot at it when he's free. hopefully after his diagnosis i'll be able to get to working at it

If u feelin vibration like that then u def need to have it looked at. Askin us is only graspin at straws as none of us are there to actually see whats wrong.

Front end issues is nothing to mess around with.
