air bag light - intermittant

99 I30 first owner 123,000 miles
car was parked inside in a garage a week, then 2nd short trip the air bag warning light started doing its blinking.
garage (not dealer) tried to pull code using a scan tool and got an "intermittant condition" indication. Light then stayed off , at least since the garage visit- a few days ago. Garage said bring it back if it does it again (no charge! on this first attempt)

Are there any "usual suspects" such as wiring harnesses, loose wires etc that would cause an intermittant condition on our maximas?
what fails the most in out air bag systems

I would say possible clock spring on steering column. I had an intermit problem when turing the wheel it would loose its contact.

your i30 probably has side air bags, which are known to crap out. Common problem with 99's.

too bad it would not set a code.

Anyone else replaced any air bag system parts?

I have a sensor code flashing after I did the airbag system check procedure. I reset it once and it stayed off for a few days and now my 1 slow 6 fast flash tells me I need to replace the sensor in the nose by the hood release.
