POSSIBLE AUTO TRANNY PROBLEM......need help ASAP

ok guys i need your help!! i think my trans just sent its self to the junkyard in the sky..

so here is the problem im having .. i drove my car for about 45 mins. car was fine, then i parked it for about 20 mins, started it up and gave it gas and absolutly nothing happened except raised rpms .. my initial thought was my axel snaped but that wasnt the case. because the car still drove but you could feel it fighting itself and pulling back as you give it gas and as soon as i let off the gas the rpm's gave a sudden drop .. so my friend came with his jeep and dragged the car to his house where it sat in the driveway for about two hours ... got in the car to try to move it further into the driveway and the car was fine
i checked trans fluid .. still red ..car drove fine back to my house about 10 mins away.
So.... im completly lost as to what could have happened & i kinda want to make sure it doesnt happen again .. has anyone ever experienced anything like this? or does anyone have an idea of what to check or possible fixes?? your help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

First thing I'd check is the TCM codes, see if it's throwing 1st or 3rd gear codes, which in my experience (been through 4 autos) means rebuilding/replacing the trans.

If no codes, next I'd drop the pan and check the debris on the magnet (there will always be some, the health of your trans really depends on how much is there).

if you put your car in D and give it gas and it doesnt go anywhere then its time for a new tranny. Also next time dont sit there and rev the crap out of it. I did that once and while the car was in D, the gear suddenly engaged and my car jumped a few feet and i almost rear ended another car in the parking lot by the time i got my foot off the acc and slammed on the brakes.

Is it possible that your shift linkage was out of alignment? Or when you hit the gas did it lurch forward? Maybe you were in "N" instead of "D"
Just a thought

To the OP, If the car was in D and the car takes of really slow and It does not want to move fast it moves really slow like a sement truck or your climbing up a steap hill RPMS really high and the speed of the car is really slow to get up to a high speed you should be checking out the TQ converter.
Do as what one of the post was saying to do check the codes on the TCM.
