Odometer

Can someone e-mail me with a way to disable the odemeter (digital) on a '99.
Don't waste your time to post this is wrong.

I doubt that you can...its controled by the ECU. I imagine that the ECU used something like the speed sensor or something to calculate the mileage. Cutting a wire such as that would cause other problems, like a CEL or worse...

Besides, this is wrong

Yup, lease is up soon and since the resale value is lower than I expected, I might give it up.

Yup. That's what I heard too. The ECU keeps track of the miles. So, as soon as those guys hook the car up to that diagnosis machine it is going to tell how many miles and then they will bust ya for odometer fraud. And, did anyone tell you that it is wrong ??

Not neccesarily. You will need to restart the car about 50 times or so letting it run for ten seconds at a time or more and it will clear it from the ECU.

Sudz-does the ecu only record the last 50 starts? Limited memory?

If you disable your odo, the ecu still keeps counting the miles. I recently found out the hard way. I sold an old Buick that I only thought it had 66k miles. The ecu said it had 266k. No wonder it ran like crap. I found out someone changed the instrument cluster.

Don't do it.
