89,999 miles and counting
Hey.....I've a 95 Maxima and was wondering if I should sell the car now or should I stick with it for some more time. I didnt want to end up paying for a bunch of repairs on worn out parts. Whats the best mileage I can let go of the car without getting burnt with repair jobs.

Maximas are good. I had a silver 87 GXE with 190,000 miles on it and it got rear ended by a semi-truck. The overall length was decresed by about a foot, but the da*n thing kept driving till 200,000 miles and then I sold it to some kid for $250. And since then, the've only improved....
Good cars. Hang on to it if you can...

Keep your car! These cars are excellent. This is my second Maxy. I brought it new (96se). Just keep the oil change reguarly, use good gas, etc. Here is a brief summary of what i have done. Anti-freeze change/flush every 6 months (distill water,Redline water wetter, and Prestone anti-freeze),tranny fluid drain/refill every 5,000 miles, belts every 15,000 miles. I replaced my alternator at 115,000 miles for a rebuilt lifetime oem, and my starter (lifetime warranty) and ignition switch were just replaced at 156,000 plus miles, in fact the starter still worked but was very tired. For new cv joints go to raxle.com, oil/filter amsoil.com. Just drive it but don't beat on it!! I have 157,000 plus miles on my 96se and i am extremely pleased, oh and gas 475-500 hwy miles per a tank full (super unleaded only). Also you have a timing chain (3) no timing belts to change! Finally change your pcv valve, air, and fuel filters more often. It may sound a bit extreme but i hey it pays to be safe. Best wishes

Keep it! I've got 212,000 on my 97SE. The only major thing I had to do was replace the transmission at 205,000 miles. I also replaced the CV joints at the same time. I got this car new and have neer missed a Nissan service interval and I run Mobile 1 in the engine and trans. Good luck.

Hey Caz41 what did your transmission do at 205,000 miles to justify a replacement (slipping?)please elaborate. My tranny is shifting excellent and my motor is superb at 157,000 plus miles, but i am just curious as to what type of maintenance you did etc, whereas a replacement at 205,000 is very good! Also how does the motor perform with that type of mileage? Happy New Year!

my family has had an 87 with 210k, then it was totalled in an accident (still ran perfect before the accident). then, another 87 ,which was sold at 160k with no problems and ran perfect, and now a 96 with only 77k running perfect as well
