A/C Dash Control Unit Removal - How to?

How can I remove the A/C control unit from the dash of a '99?

I pulled and pried at the unit and those around it but nothing seems to want to slide out to get me even started.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Haven't done it in awhile, but IIRC you have to first remove the surround around the shift lever (mine is a 5 speed); then take out a couple of screws that hold the lower part of the surround for the radio/ac panel down; then pull the that surround straight out. It goes all the way up to include the center dash vents and clock/hazard/rear defogger switches. Once that is off, you will see screws/bolts that hold the radio/ac bracket in - take that out and you can unbolt the ac controls from the bracket. I believe that you can find pictures in the FSM. Good luck.

I did a thread on how to remove the dash. One of the tasks that need to be done is to remove the radio & heater controls. It starts after the 3rd photo. You need to remove the trim plate that is around the shift lever, but there is no picture for that. Also, skip over photo # 5, it's not needed for your task. Once you have the radio & heater controls out, the heater controls are held in by screws on the sides.
