Budget Y pipe?
Budget Y pipe?
probly a stupid question but are budget Y pipes still around? how does one buy one? i can't seem to find anything on the web for budget or lyell.
if not, what is the best solution to fixing a leaky stock y pipe? I don't care about performance.

From what I've seen, I paid too much, but I drive 130 miles round-trip to/from work and didn't want to wait for ordering a y-pipe.
Mileage went down noticeably while it was leaking too.
Just had my flex section replaced today. Cost me $245.00 at the local monro shop. The cut out the old one, welded in a flange and installed the new one with new gaskets.

Paid too much?? Man, you got butt-raped.
Sorry dude but I had to laugh because I only paid $60 for mine. That price along with another few hundred could have probably got you an new OEM one.
I checked around here (central ohio) and all the shops were over $200.00 installed. I knew I could have bought a y-pipe, but delivery would have taken a week or more and I can't wait that long. No torch or welder in my tool kit, so I couldn't have put the replacement on myself.
Yea, sucks to pay that much, but I got back on the road in a few hours and it's warrantied for 2 years.
BTW: new OEM w/pre-cats are about $550 around here. Again, about a week to two for the dealer to get one.

Any idea on the cost range for the repair to the flex mesh of the Budget Ypipe? I got a quote for $200 to cut it out an repair. sounds a bit steep but they have to 'take the pipe off'. I originally thought that was fine, but is $100 more realistic?
They don't have to take the pipe off. That's just BS. Bring in your own flex and it should be $100 at the very most (should be less). If not then bring it elsewhere.
Yes, I agree 100%. Mine has been excellent, I am very happy with my Budget Y Pipe!
Back to the original question.....Is Budget still making Y Pipes for our cars? If so what is their contact info?
Thanks,
Zack

A while back ago we contacted Budget and placed an order.

My Budget y-pipe didn't fix exactly, but the mechanic and his tools made it fit. I've been very pleased and after 2 hash salty winters (Canada), the pipe still looks like brand new.

So this has happened to the flex pipe on my Budget y pipe as well. I'm looking to buy the flex pipe, take it to a muffler shop and have them install it. Does anyone know the size of the flex pipe on a Budget Y, though. I've looked up some on eBay, but my concern is that those are meant for the stock pipe. Any thoughts?
Here a Ypipe for sale on eBay....
