Check your fuses under the hood next to the battery.

55 watts is approx 4.5 amps. Is the 55 watts for each light or the pair? And which fuse was blown? It's possible the fuse was accidentially blown during the installation process, so replace it with the recommended size and see what happens.

The fog lamps are probably adding too much power draw to the tail light fuse. Nissan wires them to a different fuse, a 15 amp fuse under the hood by the battery, labeled FR FOG. But the nissan way has the switch on the steering column energize a relay and the relay sends power to the fog lamps.

If Nissan didn't build the car with fog lamps, then you don't have the switch or relay. If you put a bigger fuse in the tail light spot, there is the possibility that you could over load the wires and cause a fire.

You could go to Radio Shack and get a single pole, normally open relay. Wire one side of the coil of the relay to the side marker and the other side to ground. Then wire one side of the relay contacts to an appropriate fuse and the other side of the contacts to the fog lights.
