Replacing 95-96 steering wheel/airbag with 97-99

What all is needed? Just the wheel and airbag, or do I need the clock spring also.

Is the steering column the same for all 4th Gens?

Thanks.

the 95 & 96 use a slightly different steering column than the 97 to 99. Same for the steering wheel.

If you are replacing just the steering wheel itself, that's all you would need. You can swap the airbag and clock spring, assuming they are good.

Not to thread jack but I was wondering if you could do this same thing from a 97-99 to a 5th gen 00-03?

They are different, ive got a 95 gle, and i swapped to a 97 se wheel. The wheel, spring and bag are different, and even the air bag harness and control under the arm rest, also. The only way i could see to do a complete swap and have everything working is it swap both bags, harness and srs module. goodluck

Ugh - that's what I was afraid of. When you swapped wheels did you do all of that (harness & module and pass bag too) or did you just do the wheel, bag & C/S and live with an airbag light?

Thanks.

Well i tried to do the complete swap, but the harness is toatally different. I ended up just swapping steering wheel and air bag. You will also have to relocate you cruise control under dash, as it connects to the clockspring. All my hardware is in place just no harness to connect it all.
