No Spark

Well Just bought the car not getting any spark... iam getting fuel i changed both crank sensors and cam sensor, added extra grounds, tried starting fluid, changed the ignition switch new starter and battery, car does crank

the coil packs are getting voltage and so are the injectors

Security light flashes but turns off while cranking
Cel is on when in the ON position

Car specs
98 GXE or GLE
De-k Swaped ( car did run with this motor already)
Auto
etc

Try testing each coil pack to a metal source to see if they are sparking? Just because the coil are receiving voltage doesn't necessarily mean that they are working or working optimally. Also have you checked the spark plugs themselves for corrosion on the terminals and the main part too?

IDK what to say, just giving my $.02 to try and help

Injectors I believe. But none the less check all grounds. Also check for continuity on the crank and cam sensor circuits, The sensors may be good but not relaying the information back to the ECU. 4th gens sometimes have issues with the harness breaking where it turns to go into the firewall. Especially with it being a DEK swap means that the harness has been moved around soo.

gotta start looking thru the FSM for test procedures.

I think your ECU isnt firing coils. THats a problem man

Have verified that each coil is gettin sufficient voltage. If its cranking then that means the starting circuit is good.

A Bad MAF would still let the car start. Unless u shorted a bunch of wires for the coils or CPS or CKPS, im stumped

Good. A good multimeter is worth its weight in gold when it comes to finding electrical issues. Look through the FSM and it should tell you the procedure for checking continuity on those circuits.

hmmm... since u not gettin a cel, i dont believe the coils are busted, test resistance across the coil. Should be more than zero.

He tried another ECU...

Check the power transistor on the coil circuit.

Checking those cel codes could narrow down this problem.

Now that you have a multimeter I would check for continuity between the crank sensors and ECU. You'll need wire jumpers for extension. The FSM lays out the wiring diagram.

only emission codes, and a idle air code and ill do that next

Subscribed to this thread. My 95 with normal vq has the same symptoms and Ive done just about all that he has done except harness swap and ECU change over. Its boggling because the car only has 133k miles.

The one absolutely certain way to see what's happening is to either get hold of someone with an oscilloscope or tow it to a garage that has a computer tune-up system, the type that has a scope that shows the ignition traces.
If you put the scope input on the hot side of each coil pack in turn, you should see a spike waveform when the motor is cranked. If not, then either the ECU power output stage is fried, or the wiring harness, or both.
I was looking to buy a Sentra SE-R VI that had the same fault, it turned out the ECU was bad, the guy put a replacement in and it must have had a bad harness because it blew the second ECU as well. He was well pissed off.
As a quick test you MIGHT - I have never tried it - put a neon tester on the hot side of the coil and see if it pulses.

Did you check the fuses for the ECM? It's like #1 and #2 on the under hood fusebox on the right (driver side) of the car....

ok ive changed the full engine harness and a new ecu pulled from a running parts car and still nothing changed all relays and checked every fuse still nothing, next is im switching out the lightweight crank pully for a stock one, then compression check, then body harness if nothing after that a brick thru the front windshield

this is my 3rd 4th gen and ive never been through any bull**** like this before

To verify spark I would hook up a coil pack with a spark plug and have some one crank it to visibly see the spark. If the plugs are old they could be shot. If you get spark, verify the injectors are spraying/fuel pump fuse is in and pump working. If there is an afpr make sure it is adjusted to the proper pressure. If there is no spark check the 2 crank sensors. If none of this works send me the 00vi .

Jean that car has a switch on the dash that will cause the car not to start. We had the same problem when we did the DEK swap on it. I beleive its under the dash to the right.
