5th gen maf in a 4th gen

Anyone in here ever used a 5th gen maf on your 4th gen?? I was thinking about buyin a 5th gen and cutting the connection off a 5th gen and wiring it to my 4th gen wiring....mind you i got a mevi so i assume it would be similiar as the 00vi?

What would be the point of this? Are the 5th gen MAF housings bigger? If not then it's pointless. If so then you'll need a tuning device as well.

The pointi this would be 90 shippednew from nissan vs 450 for a 4th gen maf....not to mention a mevi issimiliar to a 00vi setup witg runners vs the **** single runner in a oem 4th...so therefore if the 5th maf controls a/f ratio with a dek i would imagine it would improve that with a mevi.. and yes a tune is needed anyhow

That $90 is probably just for the sensor itself since you can pull it out, not for the entire housing. Ifyou need a new MAF just get a used one off here. They usually go for $40-$60 shipped.

Well you seem to have the right idea go for it.

Not sure if it has been done, but you might want to make sure that price is not just for the sensor, but the housing as well. The 5th gen sensors can be removed from the housings.

If it includes the housing, and you want to wire it, go for it. Try it out, but I cant say for sure if it will work. If the diameter of the housing is different, you will need a tune, and no it wont "be similar to a DEK because it has a mevi" or even if it had an 00VI. Its not about the engine, its about the computer reading the maf.

My last A32 MAF was for 35$ from www.car-part.com, no problems.

New MAF wont matter as far as a "tune" goes. Fair idea, wrong application since even 5th gens suffer from a bad AFR for power output from the factory.

Although it would be beneficial so you could use the LRMAF housing. I've posted links before, IIRC, 96sleeper had the same idea back when.

Lol it is the same diameter... and yea i suppose dek ecu readings would be different... but yea 90 for whole housing and sensor... so this general idea eont work huh?? Or would it?

This.

The benefits of being able to use the LR maf in a 4th gen would be outweighed by the wiring, IMO, when one can simply make a larger housing for the 4th gen MAF to drop into.
