No power and bucks when throttle is mashed
No power and bucks when throttle is mashed
For a while now, my car has been not performing at it's best. Either low RPM or high RPM with throttle around 3/4. It feels a lot like a bad coil, since I've had several of them in the past, but I'm not getting any misfire codes, just a couple evap codes. Now I'm pretty sure evap has nothing to do with performance of the car, but could someone confirm that? It has a few new coils, and the front 3 plugs are new and I'm putting the back 3 in this weekend. I'm also going to do the knock sensor while I'm in there, cause I'm pretty sure it's probably beat. There was one day that it stalled twice while coming to a stop when I put the clutch in, but that was it. I also hit a piece of concrete square with my ypipe, which is what lead me to go ahead and order one from Cattman (on order). About a week after that everything went down hill and the thing runs worse than ever and I stopped driving it because it went from 3/4 or more throttle to all the time. There is a rattle coming from around the flex, but I'm sure the new Y will take car of that. I'm thinking about cleaning or getting a new MAF, cleaning the TB which I saw in the howto's, knock sensor, plugs, maybe some more coils for the back, and the ypipe.. possibly cleaning off the crank sensors? Any more ideas would be great, cause I really would love to get this thing fixed, and just wanna make sure I'm on the right track.

If your not throwing a KS code, don't bother replacing it, your only throwing $$$ away.
Clean both crank sensors, CPS (pos) and CPS (ref)
A coil can misifre and not throw a code. This will happen when the coil fails on the high voltage side. Check the MAF, try cleaning it first, if that doesn't make any improvement see if you can swap one with a buddy. Don't just throw parts at it until you've determined what's wrong.
