Best rad flush

I followed this procedure two years ago on a thread I found here and it worked well.

I am up for another flush, but can't find that thread for a refresher.

Anyways, you empty the rad at the bottom and then disconnect one upper hose that connects to the rad. I then inserted a 3 foot plastic pipe into the open end of hose.

I added distilled water into the rad, then ran the engine.

The water exited into a large container.

The instruction was to continue adding distilled water until the water was clear of any old rad fluid, usually after filling with around 4 imperial gallons of distilled water.

The one step I missed is then do you drain the rad again, usually only water?

I was advised adding about 4 liters of concentrated rad fluid, this should arrive at a 50/50 mix as there was already 4 liters in the coolant system.

Anyways, I found this system great, no fluid on driveway, no mess.

so now that it is clear with distilled water then add 1 gal of 100% coolant and top it off with distilled water. remember to repeat rev engine and add DI water a few times.

The thread you are searching for is under the FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS forum.

You made post 298 on that thread.

got my answer couple of posts down.

Yes; when the system is 100% clean water, do drain the rad to make way for the 100% rad fluid. duh..

I just don't understand why people flush their cooling systems.
A drain and refill is all that's needed.

FWIW - In 185,000 miles, I've done THREE drain and refills.
