Shifter Paddles on a 4th Gen?
#2
I don't think you can do this unless you have tip-tronic or "auto-manual" automatic transmission.
you need to have a transmission that can take commands from a computer that gives commands to change gear on command... then you can start worrying about getting a steering wheel that fits one and the trouble of installing one custom.
so practically, no... you can't do this on a 4th gen without extensive work and $$$
on a maxima with already built in tip-tronic then yes for about 500 bucks.

Someone here had a forum thread on how to install it on a maxima, cant find it though.
Supra Stick

This is not true at all. There is a device called "Supra Stick" it was designed for use of Toyota Soarer's, Lexus SC300s and 400s and Supras. Most Soarers and SC300s are automatics so someone came up with paddle shifters to manually shift. The way the work is they plug into the ECU and control it through there.

No paddle shifter kit but iirc you use your cryise control buttons to down shift upshuft and turn the supra stick off and on
didn't know this existed. but sure enough, someone has already done this to their 4th gen. i found the link for ya boris. if you want help with the install it looks pretty straight forward just lemme know, looks fun. paddle kits have basic toggle leads so im sure you can easily hook it up to the supra stick.

I'm also investigating this. Use the Supra Stick component with this:

FYI, you can hook up paddle shifters to the supra stick I looked into it a bunch of times but have never purchased it instead I went with a transgo kit first but this might be my last mod after I decide where Im going with the car performance wise (FI or N/A build).

Not true, the way it works IIRC, is you can only up shift. You cant downshift to engine/transmission brake. I do however think you can downshift to accelerate faster. Im not sure entirely how it works, but its something similar to this.
