Knock the old stud out and replace it with a S.S. nut and bolt from your local hardware store.

that nut fused to the stud. it is not possible to remove the nut without damaging the thread. i just don't know how to break it loose. after reading about metal, i decided to buy class 10.9 instead of SS nuts.

for those who are reading this in the future, stud - 14064-31U0C is a bit longer so it is not the correct stud for 97. my local Nissan said it's 14064-31U1A.

When I replaced all exhasut from the headers down I couldn't loosen that stud. Taking heat for 13 years the CAT and y-pipe were melted together.

The high flow magnaflow CAT I installed last Novemeber was giving me the P0420 code a few months later. To pass inspection this month I reinstalled the OE CAT. I first had to get the OE exhaust out of the closet. To seperate the CAT from the y-pipe I had to grind away those metal gaskets between the flanges. After grinding those studs off the CAT I then had to drill them out of the CAT flanges. That took quite some time. With the CAT flanges in good shape it worked fine with new cork gaskets and SS nuts and bolts. I haven't gotten the P0420 code since then.

If you have the tools try grinding then drilling away those melted studs.
