car wont start (and stay) in cool/cold months
when i try to start the car, it will start but then sputter and cut off. i would have to give it gas once it turns over in order for it to stay on. this started last winter and it's happening again since it's been a little chilly lately. i had the check engine light on last winter as well. i haven't seen it this summer, but it came back a couple of weeks ago. i took it to get a diagnostic done @ Autozone, and they said i had a bad O2 sensor. could they be related?
what could it be? i want to get it fixed before winter hits.

Yup - As luke said, check the ECT sensor.
You should also clean your throttle body and IACV.
Make sure the cold idle plunger and linkage is working.
The o2 is not related.
