Well, Shes getting straight piped tomorrow

... Well as things get old they tend to break, as did the pipe right behind the muffler can on my car, so instead of buying a huge tin can like you see on hondas, I sufficed for buying a stainless steal 3 inch pipe... I'm heading to a custom exhaust shop tomorrow morning before work, and they are going to cut my can, extra tubing and blow up pipe into the can.. Mixed feelings on how it's going to sound! Could anyone help me figure out what I'm going to be hearing from her???

Doesn't lack of back pressure = loss in power?

I dont know where in central jerz you are but i lived in sayreville about 15 mins from E town. And witht the amount of modified cars out there subies, evos, audis, vws, hondas, and even a number of nissans, i cant see why they would love you so much unless you were bringing extra attention to yourself by driving foolishly... but around there they never used to pull over people like that, that i saw... and i was one of them with a modded s4... but yea your gonna be loud.

if your saying straight pipe meaning no cats or mufflers then its gonna ruin gas mileage and sound like trash.

only engine i know that sounds good with straight pipes is a old 302 5.0 mustang motor with a cam.

thankfully VQ's have a very different tone. i've heard a few straight pipe'd maximas and i like them. i plan on running a catback though.

it's going to be loud, but not ungodly so assuming you still have a cat and a resonator.

you aren't going to lose any power either. the people saying you lose power from reducing backpressure simply don't know what they're talking about. you gain power from a reduction in backpressure. furthermore, this change in your exhaust configuration is so far down the exhaust system that it's probably not going to make any noticeable change in your power at all.

Agreed. the removal of the cat is gonna increase gains as u no longer will have basically a orifice in your exhaust piping that creates backpressure causing your engine to work harder.

OP,

Up top, ur car will breath a lot easier and will pull harder.

dont get me wrong tho, i dont endorse the removal of emissions equipment. To me protecting the environment is more important than having a marginally faster car. But thats jus me.,.

It won't do anything negative except for making your car
