FPR Question

Im collecting parts for a 3.5 swap and have stumbled on a problem. I dont know which afpr to get. Im not getting a fleabay one because you get what you pay for. I want to stay with a returnless rail on the motor (to keep the fuel cold) I understand the T off into a fpr then back to the return line, with that setup you would use a 2 port (inlet and outlet) fpr. My question is can I use a fpr that has 3 ports, pretty much instead of a T? I don't quite know if those afpr work that way or not. Fuel pump to filter, then to the inlet of the fpr, outlet to the rail and return port on the regulator to the return line. Would that work? Is that what the 3 port regulators are designed for? Help me out guys, Thanks.
