well, i just replaced my front rotors and pads friday and i looked at them today and wtf??? rusting allready!!!! i got the platinum rotors and axxis pads and the rotors were not supposed to rust!!! i thought maybe the salt from the snow but was told salt wont corrode them. any ideas guys???

 

its flash rust... your car can sit in a humid climate and flash rust in a couple hours... its normal. and the premium rotors will still rust. its only the top layer thats rust proof. once you bite into um thats gone.

 

whats weird is only the drivers side has rusted, not like i took a ride somewhere and drove it only on 2 wheels!!1

 

lol, maybe sprinklers or a splash? that is pretty weird though!

oh, and if you did two wheel it! then props! that would be sick!

 

Go for a drive. I bet that rust will be gone when you get back.

 

whats weird chris is its on the edges of the rotor too and i touched it and its was like some brown milky crap like the coating was coming off??? eh, they were cheap so im not complaining but the noise at slow stops is annoying the crap outta me. here's the brand rotor i used, got them from a vendor in here http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-S40-V4...item23039d2146

 

maybe your platinum rotors arent really platinum

 

I'd like to see platinum plated rotors not rust after use! That would be amazing.

allright, you guys are gonna laugh!!! i just remembered on friday, ( same day as i put the new rotors and pads on of course ) my customers next door neighbors dog was pissing on my rear wheel and i did'nt notice that he had pissed on the front rotor until sunday. it took me awhile to figure it out and then i thought it looked like spray from urine. stoopid dog!!!! the vendor who sells axxis pads in here sold me the platinum rotors and said they will not rust but then said they could rust under certain conditions. :

 

...silly dog. Urine eats through anything...
