FPR not opening?
FPR not opening?
So i broke everything down to do the 00vi and realized i didn't have everything to complete it so i proceded to put everything back on. During all this i blocked off the egr and cleaned out all that wonderful carbon gunk.
Upon putting all the stock equipment back on i tried to start it and it just spun and spun.
It's getting spark and the fuel pump is sending but i tracked it all to the FPR. What i don't know is, does it open with that small vacuum line attached to it or does the fuel pump push hard enough to open it?
I was having a very hard time getting it started before all this but now it just cranks but never fully starts.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

i thought the FPR was on the inlet side. Its purpose is to hold gas in the inlet side when starting the vehicle so fuel doesnt have to travel all the way from the pump to start the car. Sorta like a check valve.
but i just want my dang car starting and the fuel is being held right there

i'm gonna go down and switch those lines tho and see if that fixes anything
well when it did crank it was fine but while starting you had to floor the pedal and just keep trying. i'd say at least it would take 5 attempts to get the car fully started usually.. but i just replaced the crank sensors and cam sensor as the last effort to fix that problem.

i poured gas directly into the vacuum hose off the brake booster and it turned over for a bit
haha i did that we got it down to fuel and it was stopping at the FPR.. and i'm guessing that it's a vacuum leak somewhere but i haven't the slightest clue as to where because there's no hose left open or anything like that and the gaskets are all brand new
the only thing that changed is the EGR delete which i didn't think would have anything to do with starting but it's looking like it.

its like this on the return-less systems and the regulator is usually in the tank 97 have a return line and our "check valve" is or in the fuel pump
but no i have not put a pressure gauge on it at all cause i don't have one available and there was nothing in the line so i figured no pressure was there anyway.

the lines should go from the tank to the fuel filter to the front fuel rail around to the rear rail then the FPR then back to the tank
checked for spark and it's good, double checked the connections of EVERYTHING and there seems to be nothing out of place besides the EGR guide tube delete.
well the car was being jumped off if you look at the bottom right with the connectors on the battery
but does the compression or timing just go off like that.. do you not have to mess with it first or it's just an "old car" thing?
and that would suck seeing as how i've traveled about 120mi with this fuel pump.. but whenever i turn the key i can hear it coming on and i checked all the fuses and nothing's blown

welp! i'm sending it to a guy from my hometown cause i'm exhausted and i don't have the time to diagnose it anymore nor can i afford to not have a car much longer
opinions are still open but as of now it's going to be picked up tomorrow

If the car started when you poured gas into the vacuum line then your issue is with fuel. Either your injectors are not opening or you have no fuel going to them. Also being a 99 you could have been immobilized which shuts down the injectors. Is your security light on when the key is in the on position or cranking?

Well if your security light isn't on when key in the on position or cranking then you don't have to worry about it. If it is then you will need to have the dealer or a locksmith reprogram your key. It's a common problem with 99's and if you search theres lots of threads.
