Getting a G35 Coupe! Auto or Manual?

I'm getting a 2004-2006 G35 Coupe, should I get an auto or manual? Give me a good reason with your choice. I don't wanna just hear automatics are slow if you say so have proof.
Thanks

Personally, I'd go manual. They are much more enjoyable to drive, especially in a sports car. But that's just my opinion.

Of course you would

In the future you would regret getting an auto for a fine vehicle like that. Settle for the third pedal

It's not the same as an auto max. The auto is really well designed and with just a kit will be faster than a 6sp from a stop every time. And you dont have to worry about breaking axles and burning clutches. There is no way to launch a G without slipping the clutch. My buds full bolt ons 6mt would beat this stock AT every race at the track but some runs by 2/10ths and others by 4/10ths. Just make sure you get a brembo/aero package whatever you choose.

Wth?! 6 speed or bust. You dont have to worry about burnt clutches or broken axles if you drive like a normal human being. My first and second car were 6 speed maximas. Manual is better on gas, slightly faster, more control of the car overall, better on gas, and manual tranny's rarely need to be replaced as oppose to autos. Also 2005-06 G35 was better built, the 03-04 give many issues and the 05-06 have a MUCH better ceneter console layout. Google it and see for yourself, i was gonna buy one at one point. Anywho good luck sir but at the end of the day its your decision....*cough* manual,*cough* lol

Well you have to ask yourself, "when your tired/exhausted, do I really want to hit the clutch and shift all the way home?" I have no problem with it, but do you? Sure it's fun but you'll either get used it or you'll get tired of it.. Just my .02

I wasn't saying go auto. I was saying if you are worried about the auto being sluggish, don't worry. I prefer manual. There is a 6mt brembo/aero in the driveway with 150 shot, full bolt ons, Corbeaus, and Z springs/shocks. N/A it snapped 3 driver side axles before 600hp axles were put in.

If you get one, stray away from 20's. The ride is great from the factory on 18's but the tire cushion is really needed to keep the luxury in "luxury/sport".

You do realize most new high end sports cars are AUTO w/ "tiptronic" to control the gears, its a reason they switched to auto. I've told you this time and time again BUILT auto>manual especially on these new autos which you can manually shift.

If you actually do a little research and read up the 4-door auto is actually faster than the 6spd coupe.. 298hp on the coupe compared to the 290 in the auto 4 door, but the speed aspect of it 1/4-1/8 mile times the 4 door auto outperforms its lesser 2 door.As far as road driving, the coupe outperforms in handling far superior over the 4 door.
I plan to tweak my 4 door suspension soon to close the twisty gap..both fun cars either way,it's all in your preference.

I agree with king. While auto's may not be particularly exiting, the fact of the matter is a computer will always be able to shift faster than any human can. Tho I do prefer a manual for the sheer fun of it...

It comes down to personal preference in the end.

But just saying the auto is slower then the manual is retarded.

True. but the G 35 have a stock short shifter so i think shift speed is at least comparable to the auto.

You can't really say that plus autos are always more consistent then manuals they shift at the exact same point thats why at the track they are able to hit the same numbers time and time again. With manual theres always the driver error that can sometimes yield bad numbers. With road racing having control of the gears is a must and the modern autos have that option so IMO I see a win win situation for the auto UNLESS your PREFERENCE is manual. Either way your going to enjoy the car.

Agree agree agree!

But honestly unless your building the car for a specific purpose does it matter. Test drive em both and go with which ever you feel more comfortable driving

Enjoy manual cars while they're still being manufactured, you may not have this opportunity in the not so distant future. I say only get an auto if its not available in manual, thats the only excuse.

It offers a more engaging driving experience. In addition it's more active than just pushing a button for a gear change or leaving it in drive. Sometimes I have more fun driving my friends 5 speed civic than my automatic. But I respect your opinion regardless, not bashing you brotha

There is a lot of truth in this post.

Since autos are more popular, car manufacturers have made great strides to improve the performance of ATs. Now, the ATs are the best performers and CVT is just awesome.

Go manual. The best mod I ever did to my Maxima was the tranny conversion. So much more fun to drive.
