Console Mods

Did a couple console mods & thought I'd post them. I installed a second power outlet in my console to run my iPhone cradle. The phone obscured the radio when I plugged the cradle into the stock outlet location. All I did is grab another outlet, plug, and as much wiring as I could get from a junkyard Maxima and spliced it in.

Also, if you notice between the e-brake and the console lid, I installed a little storage compartment that I grabbed from a Hyundai in the junkyard. I used a Dremel to make a hole to accommodate it & it just dropped in from the top.

Oh, yeah. I also de-badged the trunk. When I was done, the stainless steel trunk lock stuck out like a sore d!ck. I took it out, painted it black and reinstalled. Looks way better.

I like that extra pocket. Would make a good spot for spare change.

Digging the seconds outlet! You do any homework to see if it could fit into the center console compartment?

No, I never looked into it. I needed it where I could see and reach the phone screen. I've been using the Motion X app for GPS. Plus, the Belkin cradle has a 3.5mm jack that plugs into my head unit. Not only can I play MP3's and Pandora over the stereo, my phone calls come over the speakers so I don't need an earpiece for handsfree calls.

Thanks. The coin tray is from a Tiberon. I had to Google image search to remember. Here is a link to a pic of it in it's natural habitat: http://www.cardesaignview.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/hyundai-tiburon-rc2-interior.jpg

Kinda On Topic/Kinda Not But I'll Ask Anyway... How Difficult Would It Be To Black Out The Brown Parts In The Cabin? I Have A Black 96 SE With Tan Interior But The Brown Doesn't Mesh Well. I Also Plan On Obtaining Black Door Panels

I'd like to put in some switches where the ashtray pops out. Maybe some neons or even another 12v socket. OR even an AUX in via 3.5mm female. Could probably fit both...
