Back to the 4th Gen (long sad/happy story)
Hello Everyone!
I have been a member here for longer than I can remember. This site has helped me countless times and encouraged me the same. I have tried to give back by helping others as well. I wanted to drop in and say hi as I will be much more active in the near future. (I have a lot more research to do before I start asking questions.) BUT if you have a lot of knowledge and wouldn't mind a little PM spoon feed action or shooting me a call, drop me a PM. (I will take all the advice and information I can get on best products, mod order, etc.) Thanks in advance!
Why have I come back? lol Well I am embarrassed but...
So there I was OMW home after a 13 hour shift. I was running out the last of my Toyo T1Rs before getting my first set of SuperSports. (I do not recommend T1Rs; 11kmi wear?! The SSs are much better, no more expensive, and have a 30k mi warranty. </digress>) At any rate, I am driving my 2008 G37S coupe home on a rainy morning. I was not going slow but I am very familiar with the limits of my cars. I thought nothing of it as my outside temp gauge said it was 39 out. On the exit of an S turn I, very complexly, lost control of my car. Simply stated - there was just enough frost on the ground that my car pegged 8kRPM in 3rd. I attempted to recover but the rear caught good pavement, snapped, and I could not counter steer out of the sudden traction... Off the edge, under a 2ft thick-sideways-growing tree (God spared me) and THROUGH another 1ft thick tree, which hit the car just in front of the right rear tire angled to the rear of the car (God again sparing me). My life was saved by about 6-8” forward and back. That much movement in sideways trajectory either direction would have ended my life. What a horrible morning that was (this last Friday). It made my feel slightly better when the a tow truck driver (we needed 2) almost hit the other one after sliding more than 10ft... Still, not a good situation and I went from negative 100 to 99 (on a completely subjective scale of emotion lol). The state cop (1 of 3 police responding) chewed me out as I had left the scene. (My dad picked me up and I asked him to take me for a coffee before the tow trucks came. I really did not know that was against the law TBH. I felt fine and no one else was involved.) She finished chewing me out for what seemed like forever grilling me with questions. I just answered them honestly and got lucky as she was prior service as well. (God again??? -shrugs-) She said she would recommend community service ($303 ticket) if I called in sometime this week. I can't remember all the details as I think I had a slight concussion. I also think I was blacked out for a while but not sure how long. There seems to be a period of time I cannot account for. The engine runs, suspension looked fine?, but not much else can be salvaged, I do not think. (</end-tons-of-parenthesis>)
well this is too long to edit now so forgive me any errors plz lol
So what now?
I still have my 97 that I bought when I was 17. It means a lot to me and I wanted to keep it anyway. That said, I have been loaning my Max out to various people who needed a car for about 3 years now. I always did oil changes, brakes, etc for them; however, overall PMCS has been neglected. I need new shocks and struts (might as well lower it), new bushings (most likely poly), exhaust (looking at cattman headers and Ypipe ATM), and the list goes on. I really loved my G seats so I am trying to source some from a G37 sedan (still need to verify the rear seats will fit). I want to upgrade everything I can to ensure a dependable commute to work. The engine does have 220k on it but it runs strong. When it dies I will replace it with, most likely, a 3.5 and 6spd manual. My objective is a fun solid ride. I do not need fast as my Z31T is my 'track car'.
Just to add:
(Another blessing from God) – I am hardly sore! I was way worse-off countless times in the military. I surely do not feel great, but all considered... Everyone seems to be amazed I am alive; much less feeling OK.
So that is about it. I am sure I will have lots of questions after I finish my week or so of research. I will show you guys the mod list I come up with. I have a decent budget and I should be getting a large bonus [of sorts] soon. I do not want to go crazy, but I want a good solid outcome which will require a lot of parts total. I want to stretch my money but no cheap[ly made] parts will go in my vehicle!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well with you guys. (I have stopped by every once and a while and it is cool to see some of the original members still around!) Drive safe, go to the track to have your fun. Take it easy; God bless!

Sure, I will post pics later tonight. I am having it towed to my house and a bunch of other stuff atm. I would have done it last night but my laptop broke almost in half as it was in the trunk. (Bowed almost an inch and the screen is destroyed.)
