beater is throwing some codes
1996 Maxima SE 5 speed 176k miles
here are the codes
P0100
Code Description: Mass Airflow Sensor

P0340
Code Description: Camshaft Position Sensor

car starts fine, idle is OK, low rpm and light throttle works fine, but if you floor it, it starts hesitating/sputtering at around 4k rpm
do you guys think one might cause the other?
Which one do you think I should swap out first? could one effect the other? maf seems to be getting ok voltage
i searched for camshaft sensor, but it seems whoever had issues here with it had also issues with starting..weird

Ive read on here that a bad MAF will cause you to hit a brick wall at the 4K mark. There are some members here selling used OEM MAFS. Test the Camshaft Position Sensor and check it for metal clinging the magnet.
Pretty sure you need a new MAF. With your description-mainly the middle RPMs hesitating along with a P0100 code. When I had these two symptoms I replaced MAF and all's been good for over 6 years.
For your other DTC P0340, not too familiar with that one. Have you taken a look at/around both these sensor's locations and related wiring/connectors? Take a look at those areas and see what you may find, if nothing questionable is found I'd get a new MAF. Then see if code(s) go away or just clear them after MAF install & hope P0340 stays away as new MAF will take care of P0100 for sure, maybe both-I just am not sure what or if there is any correlation between the two codes or not. Hope that helps.
