BAD CAT???

no, the cat did'nt claw up the couch. but i went for emissions today and failed all 3 tests. i put a used cat on from another 95 2 years ago and just 10 months ago she passed with no issues. it was warmed up and she runs great with no codes, i should've put some chevron techron in her and put in some premium 2 days ago b4 the test. the hc wac 621 and should be 0275, the nox was 6399 and should be 03600 the 3rd was only off a little. usually when all 3 are bad thats a cat??? i have api up the street that sells to nissan and said 186.00 picked up. should i do egr valve clean up as well??

The cat isn't causing your emissions to be high. Your engine isn't running 100% clean.
Check the air filter, clean the TB & IACV, change the spark plugs, make sure you have no intake leaks, change the oil and test again.

I agree .... usually a bad cat will be clogged so much it will not let the car run right. I don't think that is your problem here, it would be really rough and sometimes will even push exhaust toward the front of the car (not allowing it to pass through). You're oxy sensors ok? You said no codes, but ghost codes maybe? Scan it and see..... can't hurt

no codes but my tech said most likely cat because the semi-precious metals inside the cat did'nt stop the bad emissions from going through. im going to clean the utb and iavc and look for loose or leaky hoses first, then i'll consider a cat.

Not a bad start .... how's the air filter? So, I guess a cat can be bad and not be clogged .... right? Never really thought much about that, but don't see any reason it couldn't.

They usually go out with mileage because of poor maintenance. Not saying thats the OPs case but buying a used cat is like buying used underwear.

well, i cleaned everything and she idles better. rpm's shoot up to 1200 and then even out at 1000 right away. so, gonna use some chevron techron and do the cat. allthough i find it surprising that just 10 months ago she passed emissions with no problems. dammit....
