high pitched sqeak at start-up

For about a week now, when I start my 99 there is a high pitched sqeak that last for about 2 seconds. Happens everytime I start it now. I had my belts changed about 3 weeks ago so I am wondering if it is related to this. Belts may have been tightened too much??? Any help here would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

most likely its the belt. it happens either when the belt is too tight or loose. spray some water on the belt right before you start the car up and see if it doesnt sqeak. if doesnt, it is the belt thats causing it. some times after market belt ends up a lil big or small.

Will do. So, just out of curiosity, what if after I spray water on the belts it still sqeaks? What would that be? Thanks!

Mine is doing the same exact thing. I'm pretty sure it's the idler/tensioner pulley. If the bearing goes bad on it then it could make some racket

yeah i would check the belts 1st then the tensioner pulley, if not in rare cases it could be your crank pulley , the rubber in it can fail

Most likely your belts. Its a common thing. Just adjust them and spray them down with a lituium grease

Not sure you want to apply lithium grease to belts, might make them slip, try some belt dressing instead

Mine does the same thing and it happen right after my alternator replacement so I'm sure it's my belts but I'm too lazy to adjust it been 3 months like that haha
