Looking for ideas for custom top hat/temp fix for crappy plastic one I have now
Well I got ripped off ordering a top hat and its plastic and after I tried to see if it would even work it simple slipped down the sturt and my strut is now rattling to all hell and the top of the strut(inside the trunk) is now about 2in past where it should be. Does anybody know if a local machine shop will make these to spec or is there a sit I missed in my google search? For the time being I think I will go to lowes or home depot and get some thick metal washers for the plastic POS to sit on so it wont slip over the strut body again. Any ideas are welcomed and flaming is expected as well

There is no plastic on the rear shock mounts.
Did you assemble it correctly?
Is the large domed washer in the correct position on the shaft? It sits on top of the dust boot. Are the two bushings in the correct order, isolating the mount from contact with the sides of the upper mount? The bushing with the ribs sits on top of the domed washer, the other one goes on top of the shock mount inside the vehicle. The nubs on the holes must connect within the mount to isolate the shaft from hitting the mount.
There is a breakdown here in the stickies someplace. Perhaps you should look at that and explain your issue with some more detail so we can help you further.

I should have taken a pic. Fixed it about an hour ago. Its not a piece for the stock assembly. It came with the coil-overs. The top hat to keep the spring centered around the strut cylinder was cheap plastic. It slipped over the nut on the strut body cylinder allowing the cylinder to extend up past where it should and thus rattle. I got a heavy duty washer and put it below to keep it from happening again. Finally noise free and handling like a champ
