Down but not Out

So yesterday I had my car diagnosed with the following:
Radiator is shot
AC compressor is shot
Alternator is shot.

Cost to fix all: $1400

So, now Max is parked in his car port and not moving.

i'm assuming that's parts & labor; if you do it yourself probably closer to half that

Radiator = $100
AC compressor = $325
Alternator = $130
Set of socket tools = $50
Haynes Manual = $20

Total = $625

Less then half. Do the work yourself. Save yourself the money and use it for some nice upgrades for your max.

IF money is the issue, I would just do the radiator and the alternator so you can get the car running again,bring it to your house and do the a/c compressor or when ever you have the money atleast the important part was done.

Wow talk about being ripped off. Then again shop labor goes for $75-90$ a hr. Try a junkyard or the classifieds to find your parts as for install download a copy of the FSM. I can't say how Manu times I have used that as reference

For parts like alternators you are better off buying them new or refurbished vs a junkyard. Most places like autozone will even give you a core charge.

AC compressor u dont need for now but yes it is expensive.

The radiator is 100 bucks and maybe 1 or 2 hrs to replace. 2 bolts and remove house clamps to replace. Thats about it.

Alternator cost to replace is 300.

DIY. Out of that list, i already done radiator and alternator. Always take off AC compressor for space, so cant be hard, just gonna loose pressure in system.
