1995 se problem

hope to get some insight from someone that maybe has gone tru this?
well i got a 95 se that had a weird engine noise coming from the timing chain area. now i noticed it kinda gets loud when u rev up. well i driven the car and first and second get power but at 2200 rpm it seems to lag a lot, then all of the sudden seems to pick up again. well today finally it loss all power nd noise got louder. tomorrow im trouble shooting the code that came up but is naything possible at this time?

Hard to say until you get the code. Engines are noisy lol gotta be a lil more specific...

I would guess MAF and timing chain tensioner.

he said noise from timing chain area. Thats passenger side....hmmmm. Tensioner is probably right. The intermittent power is tough. Dirty EGR? Dirty IACV? Dirty throttle body? Most likely MAF though. Those buggers are fickle

Just out of curiosity: have you tried the free stuff? (wiping the crank sensor [POS] clean of [most] metal shavings, primarily)

I only ask because I had no check engine light and a ton of hesitation/lag earlier this year when I did my rocker cover gaskets, didn't expect it but it turned out to just be a dirty CKPS (POS)... worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.

have you gotten low on fuel lately? sometimes you can get dirt and debris in ur injectors and cause it to do exactly whats going on i had this happen to me sucked i had to pull every injector and clean them out but worked like a charm!! id try some fuel treatment first

well first shut car off and and pressurize fuel system by undoing battery and opening fuel tank. theres also a valve up by ur injectors looks like the valvle u air up ur ties with to insure all pressure is released. do that the just pull them out some are hard to get to once you look you will understand

Maybe the tensioner rattle is setting off vibrations that's being picked up by your Knock sensor!

hold the throttle open and listen if the engine changes pitch while cranking if so its sucking in air just fine

as for the noise i have a rattle type noise and for the longest time i thought it was the timing chain tensioner cuz its common on the max but i was wrong i asked to barrow a stethoscope from the master tech at work and found this noise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykzzu0LgsIs was not the tensioner but the alternator bearings

12 seconds is when you hear it the best this is not my car but the noise is the same

reading through the thread again it seems like more of a problem than just the cam pos sensor. If it wont crank then its not just a bad cam sensor. Does it crank? sound like it wants to start? or you turn the key and nothing?

so whend i pulled iac and throttle body they were completly covered up. Bad pcv vavle was replaced now since car had to move from where i had it... put everthing to together crossing my fingers she would start. Started like brand new engine? then check inside to seee if engine light was still on since car sat with out a battery, light was still there. now the weird thing was when i shut the car off and turn it back on after couple minutes of being on it started to have a misfire??? then it will go away but everytime i started it it comes. the weird thing is that the first noise that i thought i heard from chain is gone?? lol so tomorrow im going to pull everything off again and clean egr cus is making a funny noise from the area is it suppose to?
so yeah ill update as soon as i can.

Sounds like your knock sensor isn't connected. Read this thread and tell us if it's the knock sensor:

Without the knock sensor connected the engine will feel like it's misfiring.

A connector or a tube? That tube isnt connected to anything. Its on every 4th gen. its a tranny breather hose. dont do anything with it. If its a connector then yea that should be plugged into something lol and you probably found your problem

There should be a black plug located right at the A/T dipstick. There should be a harness going from that plug to the knock sensor. If it is not there, get one from JY or dealer.

I would get a new knock sensor since you can get at it so easy..10$ on eBay. Someone obviously disconnected it trying to fix the problem so it is probably bad as well. Hope you don't have more serious problems by someone disconnecting it. A bad ks will not trigger the check engine light by itself and is usually found when something else is bad. Here are some pics of where the wires go to...driver side by the intake. First pic is from the front of the car and the second is standing over it. Hope this helps. Not the best pics but it should get you in the right area.
