Finally I have a car kind of worth showing- 98 max

Whats up guys. This is my first car I have ever owned and I've loved every second of its presence ha.

So far I haven't done a lot but I think it will come out looking nice.

-New Paint Job
-19 R1 Racing rims (One bad one, as shown in video. Getting fixed next week)
-Stillen Front lip, R34 Side skirts (I didn't buy them because I think I have a skyline. I know I have one), and Some aftermarket back valances, found them on a real weird site and bought em.- Ionic Valences, muh bad. Not a weird site. I love you Ionic.
-Ugly spoiler that should be removed soon (Wanna see how it looks after I lower it)
-Gunmetal altezza's painted black to match the body.
-Short ram intake (Cheap ebay one, but it sounds awesome)
-Resonator Delete.

So far I am really happy with it and even people who know nothing about cars appreciate so thats kind of cool. If I didn't have the F'in wing, maybe It'd gain some credibility for being a classy looking car.

Here is the video, oh and sorry if this is in the wrong section. Ignore the kids in the background, they were purposely trying to annoy me lol.

Not quite sure how to embed....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcxuoT2ggdA&list=UUGSpSe9cu9DJlEfmc5LFsqA& index=1&feature=plcp

Edit: I was extremely cold while filming this. Very shaky I know

okay... ionic dynamics is not some weird site. theyre a very legit and quality company who make aftermarket items for our cars, including a lot of CF. second youre full of ****ing excuses. and rambled on about your rim way too much. semi-fail.

Get rid of the taillights and spoiler (replace it with a OEM style wing) and call it a day. Other than that

Damn, had no idea people took things this seriously. I clearly don't know too much about cars and I am not very familiar with the websites, so sorry. I never said they have poor quality either.

And excuses? I guess I was kind of admitting I made some dumbass mistakes like putting the wing on it lol.

Sorry for coming off like a douche though, first time ever doing something like this.

Oh and metallica, why don't you like the tails?

Yeah I hear you man. Really didn't want to sound insulting, so far they have been great, but when I saw them on the site it was the first time I had ever seen them, every one else had stillen.

since you hate the wing, i would suggest saving and buying the ionic dynamics wing, CF or not. i like the styling a lot. its semi similar to OEM except its much bigger and more sporty, with only 2 mounting pillars. i think it looks a lil like a srt 8 wing.

Is it gonna be on some weird site? Just kidding

Is there anyway I can save some money when it comes to covering up the holes in my trunk lid? Or do I need to have the lid welded over and repainted?

for me i used and covered up the bolt holes in the center with the spoiler and 3m tape. but the holes that are about an inch wide i filled using grommets. theres a certain size that fits perfectly.

My only issue would be rust. I remember seeing the holes getting real rusty. Btw what are grommets?

Edit: I see what grommets are. EXCELLENT idea.

Maxima king- Thanks man! Maaco painted my car and since they are each individually owned, I think I got a good job, considering how pricey it was for maaco. I just hope they removed my spoiler instead of painting it while it was on my car!!!! So now I'm gonna have a big *** old paint mark. Lets hope not, and thanks for the kind words.

the round plastic thing in the door shell.

Hey! All of you! MY *** in YOUR Face! No really this actually has been helpful so ty. What kinds of lowering springs can I get? I see that coilovers are like 1K, or possibly cheap $400 Ground control coil overs. My Fenderwell gap is freaking huge and I don't see how a 2 inch drop on lowering springs could possibly do anything.

No ground control, thats straight garbage. Go for Megans, k-sports, etc. I think you can get some k-sports for around 6-700 iirc.

Looks like these only lower bout 2 inches. Maybe saying I wanted to drop it 4 was a lot bout how does everyone else slam it to that level?

Oh and whats up with the tail light hatred :X

Those are a strut/spring combo, they are not coilovers.

Agreed... the tails and wing need to go. That sort of nonsense belongs on a Civic, not a Maxima

I like it. Looks good man. Get rid of the spoiler though, like you said.

I sorta like the skyline lights, it looks good on a black car.

What are you gonna drop it on? Also, any plans for exhaust?

OP, you should get coilovers. KSport's are only a little more than what you posted in that link and will give you that 4" drop that you want.

Definitely lose the spoiler ASAP. You can go spoiler-less and it'll look a ton better or get a OEM style spoiler as suggested.

The tails actually aren't all that bad since you painted them but the altezza tail era is over. Some red/smoked tails would look amazing on there.

Thanks for the advice guys I read every last bit. As for the spoiler, I will get rid of it and get huge carbon fiber one to show every one that I have a race car.

As for the tails, I go by what I like and not trend. Sorry but I will be keeping them. Haven't seen a car like them in my area yet, but I guess there's a reason for that.

Exhaust wise, megan racing cat back hopefully

OP, get an M3 style lip spoiler. Google it/look on ebay. Theyre cheap and look really nice, much better than the OEM spoiler in my opinion.

Also, megan catback... There was a kid on here that installed that and everyone hated it. Made his car sound like a civic. Look into Cattman, Magnaflow, even Ebay. Ive got a custom catback with an ebay muffler at the end an it sounds pretty nice.

It only sounded like that because he had eBay headers/y-pipe and a test pipe as well. It should sound similar to our eBay/CustomMaxima catbacks.

OP, hope you're not serious about the spoiler. The Ionic Dynamics one is a beefed up OEM style spoiler. Email them directly and see if they have a any fiberglass ones left. Then send it down to Maaco and install it.

Edit: Or just buy this one:

glad you are having fun with the max. things i'd do to it (looks wise) are drop it immediately, lose the taillights, install stock spoiler.

contrary to what someone else in here said ground controls are perfectly, but you can't just put them on stock struts or most of the bullsh!t struts available for our cars. koni yellows are far and away the best strut available for the 4th gen.

with 19" wheels you have to get the 4th gen really low to make it look "right" - as you are quickly finding out that severely limits your suspension choices because of the design of the 4th gen's suspension.

Interesting, I was always under the impression that ground controls were those fake sleeves that try to mimic coilovers but are bad quality and possibly cause damage. I stand corrected.

Nice Max. Paint looks pretty good for a Maaco job. I'd lose the spoiler, taillights and drop it.

Other then that, looks great!

They are the threaded sleeves. Ive had them since early 2000s on Konis and they are still working fine..

I like the BMW spoiler idea, and what kind of shops install coilovers/lowering springs. NOne of these local mechanics will do it

The difference between ground control and others are price and the others have the adjustment plates up top with pillowball mounts and you have to buy the shocks directly from manufacturer.

definitely get lip spoiler looks much much better IMO

as for suspension.. coilovers or bust!.. i saved for a loooooong time for my D2's (amongst other stuff) and they are badass. i feel like if you're gonna do it then do it right the first time ya kno.

and i'm not a fan of the altezza style tails but to each his own. your car is an expression of you

check out my sig for a 4" drop on 19's... by the way, this isnt recommended if your not a car guy willing to bust some knuckles doing your own work. because it will come often in the form of axles and other suspension things. i think youd be surprised what a 2" drop could do for you.

ditch the spoiler n for the ionic dynamics spoiler!

keep the altezzas if you like um but PLEASE dont get the 2nd gen! they are tacky as hell! the 3d design and horrible carbon fiber overlay just sucks! i would also suggest maybe a retrofit in them. chrisman287 can help you with that. possibly some led rings in the tails and i believe he just did a HID Projector retrofit in the reverse lights. could look sick!

also, that bad wheel definitely shouldnt be on the front!

and your black painted bumper lights should be swaped for some ebay black and chrome style. would be much more legal and cleaner!

just my $.02

they are sleeves, but they are good quality and when paired with a good strut they are great performance-wise. i've never heard of them causing damage except to the little plastic strut bearings if you don't make sure to center the strut bearing when you drop your car. I had them on my previous max and they worked well (although i was a noob back then to struts and i had them paired with crappy AGXs).

a lot of bmw guys who race use them with koni struts because that is a really good setup that costs like half of what a full coilover setup does and you can get the koni shocks valved exactly as you want them for suspension tuning.

Hmm.. LED rings could look cool but I'm not doing any of that work at the moment. I did start my projector retro in the reverse lights

A headlight retro would be nice with some black bumper lights instead of the super tinted ones. Maybe some fogs too.
