2. Ignition - It allows you to start your car with a key.

it alters the mass air flow sensor voltage. you can control it so that the computer "thinks" there is more or less air flowing in. If you want the car to run leaner, the AFC will alter the MAF voltage lower, thus, there is less fuel being injected. if you want it to run richer, the AFC alters the signal to be higher, resulting in more fuel.

for a slightly modded NA car, it's not worth very much. but for cars running boost or NOS, fine tuning of the fuel curve can yield 20-30 hp by optimizing the air/fuel mixture. If you run too rich (11:1), the ignition system can't fully ignite the mixture. If too lean (17:1), detonation & pre-ignition is likely. The best point to run is around 12:1 a/f mixture, which is where the optimal power is yielded w/ minimal risk.
Price?

$300

Re: Re: have some questions about these mods

So you're saying that the S-AFC is basically a waste of money for a NA car with not aftermarket forced induction.? Right?

I think HKS & Jacobs make ignitions for our car.

The HKS was dynoed and only gained 1hp. TO me, $500+ for ignition is not worth it. Our distribuless ignitions are already so efficient, to me there is no sense in changing it.
