EGRC Solenoid Valve (Noise)

Does (or could) a faulty EGRC Solenoid Valve contribute or cause a sound after ignition similar to an exhaust leak? ( Issue seems to dissipate after car warms up, also it is winter here so the colder, the more likely to get the leak sound.)

no not to my knowledge. the egrc is a little valve switch located just to the right of the Intake Manifold. I use an extra one as my vacuum canister/butterfly toggle switch with my MEVI Intake Manifold and the only sound it makes is a buzzing sound when it recieves an electronic signal from my RPM switch to activate the egrc switch valve.

I dont think a faulty switch could itself cause a leak no that doesn't seem possible.IIRC the EGr opens up at about 4kRPM's which therefore you wouldnt be hearing a leak at idle, that would be an IACV leak. Then again, if it is faulty and opening up at the wrong time then I suppose it could cause an abnormal leaking noise. A possible cause is also a broken stem from a slipped wrench or the like. When I had a leak before after installing the NWP spacers, the best way I found to locate it is to simply get in there close and have someone rev the engine to insure, in my case, it was the IACV because it only happened at idle where the IACV takes over.

usually if the solenoid fails it either fails in the open or closed position and will trigger a CEL.

U can test to see if its getting power and if its actuating or not. Replace if necessary.

Hissing??? Thats a vaccum leak or a tear on a air hose

The E in EGR valve stands for exhaust. Maybe the tube that tends to clog up has a hole in it.
