question about engine light (CEL)

For maybe 3 years I had an engine light on for the 0302 EGR code that came on after installing my MEVI. sometime last year when I fixed another code error (unrelated to the egr) I reset the ecu and the egr light never came back on. in fact the engine light hasn't been on in over a year and I am worried something is wrong here.

Another case and point. today my exhaust pipe right after my CAT rusted completely off while driving. I had a garage replace the cat and realized that my rear o2 sensor was not salvageable because a previous exhaust shop had just welded the oxygen sensor into the pipe without a bung/thread of any kind. When replacing the pipe I told the shop to just install a proper bung, plug it, and I would find an o2 sensor on my own and install it myself. After the work was done I started driving the car home and the engine light didn't turn on for a missing o2 sensor. does this take some time driving for it to turn on? ha I think I am just wary over my car not showing any cel issues as I haven't seen that yellow light in over a year.. (I do see the engine light when turning on the battery BTW)

thanks for the heads up

The car works off a two trip detect logic. It should turn on after the second trip. Check with a code scanner to be sure.
