Anyone Tried this FTSB?
Anyone Tried this FTSB?
if i can't find an alutec FSTB, I'm going to get my hands on one of these.
Yeah I was just looking at some of the $25-$50 Strut braces when I came across this beast....Wow.... overkill, like I love it! I'm not interested in it because of the name...Maxima_Style! I don't know who they are and really I do care it was the rigid design that peaked the interest to post this thread and see if anyone had tried this beast already....I can afford to spent some extra money this 4th Gen, it was free!!!!

This 3 point FSTB is even better:

They even offer this 4pt Front lower brace for a 4th gen:

A rear 2 pt RSTB

and a rear torsional brace (SWAYBAR???)

Why do you think it won't? Ok I see now ...My cruise control vacuum canister is located there! But If I go with a JWT ECU that cruise control won't be working anyway...so I could move it or remove it! But yeah you're right ChrisMan287

yes you are right, maybe rigidty is differen BUT unless youre autox or doing some HARD racing, for everyday use it really wont make any noticeable change, and not all ebay ones are hollow bro, i had one on my 5th gen that i swapped out for a free one i got and the ebay one for the hell of it i bent in half on a vice and tried cutting through with a saw, and it was by no means hollow and i paid 20 bucks for it, a 1 piece design will work better ill agree there but unless youre running autox as stated or anything of that like theres no need, but hell its his money figured id offer my opinion as everyone else does, and with his car being free i guess he can afford to blow money lol...

But no other RSTB.....except Stillen and Throwdown....
i just moved mine and walla!!! it fits, unless your stuck on having everything look perfect.
I like that three point FSTB. Those solid 3~4 point FSTBs work the best if you can get them to fit properly in the engine bay. I know of people running those kind of FSTBs on cars at track events and they speak highly of them. IIRC the older F-bodies have to have extra subframe bracing and/or fender braces or having a 3 point FSTB alone will cause the windshield to crack under hard cornering.
I would buy it just to try it, worst case modify it with a cutting torch and MIG welder.

I did a little more research and Ultra Racing is a bracing maker from Malayasia and seems like a legit company trying to make a name for itself. Hey at least it is not made in China for once.

They have two sellers in the USA - Throwdown Performance and NextGen Tuning.
I checked around and the B15 guys have been using UR parts with some success, namely UR's fender braces are well liked. 2JR was trying to become a seller of UR parts for the B15s but I think the deal fell thru.
Anyways the all solid brace design is a benefit for rigidity, but causes fitment issues as all cars are not exactly the same. So some drilling/grinding is usually needed.

The typical two point brace with adjustable bits wasn't worth anything to me IMO and why I still do not have one. Anyways I feel the three point brace are worth the effort on my car as I do take my car on the road course a bit. This would also compliment the custom fender braces I am having made before the upcoming track season.
However fitment of this 3 point brace might be difficult and it is hard to judge from the one photo they provided. Obviously the cars UR designs these for are all RHD. Now my engine is lowered about 3/4" inch vs stock, so I might just get lucky with the fitment. I would have to relocate or ditch the cruise control and get the brace cut/reweld to fit the brake booster. If I do hack up this brace white isn't my color anyways I would get this piece along with the fender braces powder coated black.
For the price they want this brace for it is still cheaper than what I was quoted for on the custom fender braces and cheaper than the quote I got for a custom 3 point FSTB made by this local fab shop. I will call Throwdown tomorrow and see if I can get some more details.

Alright I placed an order for one of these 3 point FSTBs. Was told the brace should arrive sometime end of this month or early March. Will post some pics and what not when fitment is done.
Lame.
I got all my money back from Throwdown via Paypal so that is good. They have the two point braces still available, but for the money asked for the three point brace I was on board at that price. Still might make a custom three point brace for my car in the future.
Anyways I asked Mark at Throwdown to verify what is still available from Ultra Racing and to update their website. UR has alot of A33 bracing available so they will update their site sometime in the near future to reflect that. For the A33 UR has a 4 point RSTB that looks promising and I may try out and modify to fit on my car.

Hi Joe,
We just received an email regarding our shipment in that this part number (3pt
FSTB for A32) has been discontinued by Ultra Racing. We will be processing a
refund on your order.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Thanks,
Mark
