HELP 96 alarm goes off every time i connect battery
PLEASE someone help me, My moms 96 wouldnt start earlier, and my step dad tried to jump it, but the battery was shot. So I went at 1am to go get it replaced at auto zone. (battery tested bad and replaced under warranty)
I come back and the second I connect the battery, the alarm goes off, I didn't have much time to fiddle since its 2am over here, and it would wake up my neighbors. I tried to start the car, but it just clicks and nothing(while continuing to honk) I disconnected, waited a bit, and tried again and sure enough alarm goes off.
Did they fry something when trying to jump it? what could possibly be causing this?
PLEASE can someone help me?!?!?
thanks in advance for the replies!

For testing purposes you can either unplug the horns or remove the 2 theft warning horn relays.
Under normal conditions, if the alarm goes off, you can stop it by pressing lock on the keyfob with all the doors, trunk and hood closed. Can you shut off the alarm this way? I suspect that the BCM (body control module) is bad.
The fact that the the starter clicks and the engine doesn't crank sure sounds like a bad starter. Being a 96, this wouldn't be unreasonable.

If the alarm goes off you've got to disarm it before you try to start it.
Either press the remote lock/unlock or use the key manually to lock/unlock.
Once the alarm is reset the car should start.
If it still clicks, trouble shoot the starter.

thanks for the help guys, dont know why the alarm was going off, but since the remote didnt work, I wasnt sure how to disable it. I used the key on the driver side door to lock, then unlock, and it stopped, had to disconnect the horns to work on it, but figured it out, thanks for the replies!
