HELP 99 MAXIMA
HELP 99 MAXIMA
OK I HAVE A 99 MAXIMA, I CHANGED TRANNY FILTER, SPARK PLUGS AND AIR FILTER LAST WEEK. THEN WHILE ON FREE WAY I NOTICED IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER WHILE TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS P0100, I BOUGHT A NEW MAF SENSOR, BUT CAR STILL HAS NO POWER. SEEMS TO TOP OUT AT 2400 RPMS WITH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR AND NO POWER,, ANY IDEAS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?
Still sounds like MAF...
Could be clogged cat as well...did this just happen at once, or was it gradual? Also...when u did tranny filter, what did you do to fluid...change it? How? With what? Specifically...
Is P0100 the code for the maf or something else?

I PUT DEX MERC 3 ATF MAXLIFE . NEW TRANSMISSION FILTER. NEW PLUGS NEW AIR FILTER AND FUEL FILTER. I WAS GOING TO DRIVE OUT OF TOWN SO I DECIDED TO DO IT ALL BEFORE I LEFT. IT IDLES OK SOMETIMES IT SKIPS. BUT I NOTICED TRYING TO PASS PEOPLE IT JUST HAS NO POWER. CHANGED THE MAF AND STILL HAS NO POWER.. I LIVE IN TUCSON ARIZONA

If the code is a vacuum leak then certainly you have one somewhere. Under the TB is an easy one to forget. The low power could be a few things. Can you tell if its running on all 6? I know people who have bought the reman MAF and never had a problem, they seem pretty simple and easy to reman I suppose. If you changed the spark plugs then possibly they could be bad. My mechanic friend bought a box of 100 plugs I think and all but 4 were bad so it can happen. Check your connector clips and make sure everything was put back right. Sometimes a once over can find a stupid mistake

I never buy stuff from autozone and that's from a mechanics word of mouth. have heard several of them complain about their remanufactured electrical parts being junk. might try to get that one replaced or borrow someones, just make sure to reset the ecu when you do the change. and yeah there are a few vacuum lines you coulda accidently knocked off or just loosened when changing the filters
