I opened the 8 metal catch locks to see if I could just replace just the functional component and leave the metal casing in tact on the car. (they're hard to get off). It came apart so I put it back together but wondering if I broke a seal in doing so. There is a spring inside, put it back, looks the same pretty much, but wondering if anyone has ever had one part and if its ok to do that?
