Parts to Order for Water Pump Replacement?>

Can someone list all the parts to order for the replacement?

Any brands I should stay away from. I would like to go OEM but it's a bit out of my budget. Any recommended brands?

Tnx

You can't use the new tensioner with an original guide, and you can't purchase an "old" style tensioner any longer. So on my car they cleaned up the original tensioner, and reused it. I returned the new tensioner and guide to Nissan.

Is this correct? I don't want to pick up parts I dont need. The car is a 95.

I would go OEM. A job like that you wouldn't want to do it twice because of a cheap part. Since DaveB is no longer around. I've been buying my oem parts from Brent Koenig at Gillman Nissan 281-341-2277. Just tell him your from .org and he'll apply a 20% discount. He replies to messages and is a cool guy to deal with. He has always given me the best prices for oem parts compared to other dealers...

Crank seal is unnecessary for this job. You have to remove the crank pulley to replace it, but not to replace the water pump.

If OEM is out of your budget I have had good luck with RockAuto.com for friend's cars I have worked on (non-Nissan ughh).

Price Compare

CourtesyParts
Water Pump Assembly $89.70
Thermostat Assembly $20.52
Radiator Cap $14.58
Upper Radiator Hose $17.88
Lower Radiator Hose $20.22
TOTAL $162.90

RockAuto
Water Pump Assembly $44.79 (Beck/Arnley close to stock)
Thermostat Assembly $16.93 (Beck/Arnley Includes seal, housing and thermostat)
Radiator Cap $4.97
Upper Radiator Hose $10.97 (Goodyear)
Lower Radiator Hose $17.59 (Goodyear)
TOTAL $95.25

If you can afford to go $70 more I would go OEM. Also if you can afford the 4 OEM radiator hose clamps @ $2.56 each since yours are probably 17 years old I would do yourself a favor a replace them. You will thank me and so will your mechanic as they will weaken and break. Finally don't put worm-drive clamps on them it will only ruin the hoses and makes for a sloppy install.

That is true but i am aproaching 200,000 miles and while it's not nescessary, I have changed about every other seal so he figured that changing it while being in the vicinity couldn't hurt. I don't know what or when the previous owner did maintenance to the car. so I am doing a little preventative maintenance. Now I should be good for another 200,000 miles or so.

Oil and anti-freeze will mix on the water pump change, so change both fluids.

Anti-freeze;
Nissan or better anti-freeze
thermostat
ECT or temp ssensor for ECU

Oil
Oil Filter (wix or equivalent)
5W30 or 10W30 oil

That's about it.
