exhaust

I have a question. I have a 99 Maxima non California emissions. Is it possible to use a exhaust pipe that is California emissions?

Exhaust pipe resonator . As far as I know it runs from about middle of car to the muffler.

It just doesn't seem like it would. The part that connects to the catalytic convertor appears longer than the one that's on there now
