Lower my 4th gen on stock 16" SE wheels?

I bought a set of these 1999 16" SE rims today with tires for 150. They're awesome rims, but I have been wanting to drop my max a couple inches and I've never seen someone lower their max on 16" rims. Would it look okay? What do you guys think?

Oh and here are the rims I bought.

I hit something on the interstate and bent a rim, so Im lowered on stock 95-96 15" GLE wheels PlastiDipped. It actually looks really good with the chrome center cap and I got compliments on them (unexpectedly) and the ride is much better than 17's or 18's. Try it out, experiment, post pics!

WHy cant you lower on stock wheels? SOme cars look good lowered on stock wheels. I think the 4th gen with these wheels is one of them. While they are off the car you can paint them to make them appear aftermarket if it makes you feel better? These look great in a darker, charcoal grey color. I like these...

They might even look good in a white, all this advice depending on the color of your car of course

Maxed_out99 is lowered on his stock SE rims, and it looks good.

Unless I score a deal on a new set of wheels, I will be dropped on my stock SE rims as well... Tokico Illuminas + H&Rs...

pics please? I love my stock 15" blades and I rock them all the time over my 17" TSW's because I have more conservative rubber on them and I dont have to worry about scratching them or cleaning them as much because they are a PITA for sure. A lowered max doesnt really appear lowered unless its slammed. ^Stock it has the 4x4 look and lowered it simply looks sporty, no offense Amerikaner, but look at his sig^. It wont look weird on stock wheels trust

haha none taken. Lowering it the way I plan will make the wheel gap look like that of a normal car...putting my max next to my wife's Outback and gonna take a picture...think the max has more wheel gap LOL

Lol the wheel gap is odd but it certainly makes it comfortable. The 4th gen max has some of the worse body roll out there and everyone will admit to this. Thats why a strut brace is recommended in the stickies I suppose. It helped me a lot if you don't already have one. Once lowered it gives the front end a noticeably stiffer feel going over uneven pavement or railroad tracks it is the most noticeable. You should get one now and install it pre lowering and see the change. You WILL notice it and for $30 on ebay its worth it

and my 15" blades mmmm....

wheel gap looks more prominent in the last pic but thats bc its angled up. I think a good 2 fingers is perfect. Which work out to be a little over 26 inches from ground to top center of the fender. I think 26" in the front and about 26.5" in the rear is perfect. Provides the best handling. Some stance people will say its 4x4 but my aim is handling on the track, not looks. My suspension guru says it is the best geometry and I believe him lol. Below 26" is getting into riding on bump stop territory with a spring/strut combo

all depends on color of your car, i seen a pair painted white on a charcol colored 5th gen, look nice.... or a darker grey. but its your car, my opinion.

If you want to go super low you HAVE to get CO's. If you go as low as these guys on struts/springs then you will only be riding on the bump stops

PICTURE ***** THREAD YAAAAYYY!!! in all seriousness though, infinimax, I love those s14 wheels on the 4th. Never thought of that or seen it around before. Looks near stock but a max enthusiast can tell it is custom. Does not scream for attention though which I like the most. Good job sir I agree 1000%
