rear license plate light bracket, screws rusted...now what?
as it states I can't get to take the plastic cases that enclose the bulbs and one of them is burnt. I want to try and avoid going factory and wanted to know if any one had a solution? lubricants and stripped screw attachments didn't work. dam screws are so rusted and stripped.
You could just run a simple wire and bulb or led from radioshack but that would be too easy so drill the screws and try to fix it. You could replace the entire light assembly if you want.
I'm pretty handy but can't figure how that would look. Any visuals or any more details on how to do it? Thanks
Drill the screws out and replace them. Worst case, drop the bracket, which is only held up there by 2 screws iirc, so you can see the whole thing and work on it in a normal position. But, drilling through the screws will probably be your only shot since you say they are stripped.
I kno the screws ur talkin about.....unscrew the two screws that hold the metal bracket in place. Drop and unplug lights and u can use a dremel or hacksaw blade to cut flat head screwdriver heads on the screws. Then take a flat head screwdriver n go at it......worst case, u accidently cut the head off, go to home depot n grab new screws.
